Advancing Quality Post-Abortion Care (PAC) in Tororo District
In partnership with Ipas and Embassy of Iceland
This project set out to break stigma, build referral networks, and ensure girls and young women can access safe, compassionate post-abortion care.
What the project focuses on:
- Stigma reduction through dialogues and VCAT.
- Strengthening community- facility linkages.
- Building a digitally connected mentorship network.
- Youth-led creative advocacy (radio drama, theatre, storytelling).
- Expanding PAC access for adolescents and young women.
Key achievements:
- 5,300 people reached directly and indirectly in six months.
- 700 plus PAC and SRH referrals documented.
- 64 percent of PAC clients at supported facilities were AGYW.
- VCAT scores among influencers rose from 32 to 67 percent.
- Religious and cultural leaders shifted from resistance to active support.
- WhatsApp mentorship networks coordinating 60 plus referral champions.
- Engagement of 616 community actors and training of 72 CHWs and peer educators.
- Youth drama reached over 1,500 listeners and became an IEC tool across facilities.
